"A horse is like a mirror, and it's reflecting what and who you are."

This is just a little diary of my horse life. I teach natural horsemanship and dressage. I am currently working on getting back to L4 Parelli after a car accident and surgery.

I suffered from a fear of failure, as things had not gone according to planned after my time off from my injuries. It had been an paralyzing disability (fear) but my healing is coming along nicely, and I hope to pass my level 4 before the end of 2011.

I don't know where I am going, but I am NOT lost!

I am now reviewing dvd's and books, and blogging my reviews. The link on the left in the categories (DVD Clinician Reviews)will take you straight to it. You will find links to the websites of all dvd clinicians I review and they are located on the left hand side bottom of page of the page. None of the clinicians or trainers I am reviewing, sponsor, endorse or authorize this site. For more info about them please click on thier link.

I hope you enjoy!

Savvy On,

Video..Her Idea/My Idea experiment in FUN

This is an experiment. basically the first half was me pretty much letting her do what ever she wanted. Once she started, then I asked her to do more of what she was doing than she wanted to, after I did the one thing she wanted to do more than anything.....go in the back yard....I decided it was time for her to do some of my ideas. when we got to the weave, twice she really came at me ears pinned, something she had never done before, and I told her THAT is not acceptable. She really didn't want to go to the left, so instead I let her go to the right, and asked for more than she intended to give. Once she tried to bully me and acted like she was going to dive bomb Snookie, I let her run smack into Snookie. DORK! Lucky for her Snookie didnt' kick the crap out of her. Most of this video, which is long and mostly for my viewing purposes, is her idea. I don't know if I did OK or not. I know I felt better at the end. She got a hard lesson learned for getting herself tangled in the rope a few times, and I left it up to her to get out of it. And once done, and halter off, she stayed with me for a long time. Usually she takes off squeeling and leaping. So I will do this a few more times to see how things progress with it. She did not like sharing ideas with me. She seemed like she felt as if it was her way or no way.....HMMMM sounds kinda familiar.....
Who Knows!

  1. That was really fun to watch. Such seamless transitions between games, and no dust!

She is so cute in the beginning.... "No I don't want to jump the barrel, but we can play soccer with it!"

  2. Thanks, I didn't expect anyone to watch it as it is sooo long and sooo seemingly boring. But it is the only way for me to asses myself & how I appear to my horses. So again, thank you for taking the time to watch.

Yes, she is so calm about her "PLAY" that I was totally missing her play drive all together. So when given the challenge to see what her ideas are with objects, I was surprised that she played with them so long. Odd thing is, these things are laying in the yard everyday, and she NEVER touches them on her own. HMMMM how interesting.

  3. Don't you love when that happens! Mine do that with the cones. They are out there all day collecting dust, then put a rope on the horse and it's now time to see if we can chuck the cone over the person's head.

I actually really love videos like this, wish more people would post em. You can only watch so many passing auditions and fancy cool tricks before it all gets confusing as to what to DO with your horse every day, when you have more than 10 minutes to play or show off. I want to watch myself in a long session like that so bad, I realllly gotta get my camera figured out lol!!

  4. I have to say, up until now...no I didn't. I didn't get it. Play wasn't a part of my vocabulary.....I thought it was, but just learned I don't know the meaning of the word fun.....as far as Rose was concerned. So now I do and am discovering how to DO it too!

I know what you mean, seeing ordinary, everyday, video's of someone playing....Good and Bad.....are actually very helpfull. You get to see how someone else does things and how it goes. It is quite educational.....I too wish more people did it.

Get your camera fixed and tape yourself, you will love it! I have 1000's of hours of me riding dressage in boxes somewhere.

I know I am not perfect.....so be nice!
